Mural Festival 2024

This article features the new murals created during the 2024 edition of Mural Festival, as well as the temporary art found on the site (St-Laurent between Sherbrooke and Mont-Royal) while it was closed to traffic from June 6th to 16th.

Eight earlier Festival murals have been replaced with new ones in 2024. These are the Dalkhafine and Egle Zvirblyte murals from the 2023 edition, Caroline Monnet’s mural from the 2022 edition, the Bryan Beyung mural from the 2019 edition, the LSNR, Marc Sirus and Jeremy Shantz murals from the 2018 edition and the Aydin Matlabi and Miss Me collaboration from the 2017 edition.

Two murals from past editions were also updated and restored. These are the Scan and Axe mural from the 2014 edition and the Tyxna mural from the 2022 edition.

Cet article présente les nouvelles murales créées lors de l’édition 2024 du Festival Mural, ainsi que les œuvres d’art temporaires retrouvées sur le site (St-Laurent entre Sherbrooke et Mont-Royal) alors qu’il était fermé à la circulation du 6 au 16 juin.

Huit anciennes murales du Festival ont été remplacées par de nouvelles en 2024. Celles-ci sont les murales de Dalkhafine et Egle Zvirblyte de l’édition 2023, la murale de Caroline Monnet de l’édition 2022, la murale de Bryan Beyung de l’édition 2019, celles de LSNR, Marc Sirus et Jeremy Shantz de l’édition 2018 ainsi que la collaboration entre Aydin Matlabi et Miss Me de l’édition 2017.

Deux murales d’éditions passées ont aussi été restorées et mises à jours. Celles-ci sont la murale de Scan et Axe de l’édition 2014 ainsi que la murale de Tyxna de l’édition 2022.

Tribute to Scan featuring hollow throws by 54 local writers, with one of Scan’s iconic Mr Can Do character superimposed. For more information on this wall including a complete list of contributors, see the article on Scan tributes.

Above 2: the Scan and Axe Lalime mural, originally done for the 2014 edition of Mural Festival, was restored and updated in 2024 by Axe and Zek.

This is the 2024 edition of Tyxna‘s mural originally done for the 2022 edition. The new letter piece at the base was designed by Zek and painted by Dodo Osé and Fuser.

Shown below are some of the ad board backsides which were also made available to paint while St-Laurent was closed to traffic. This is only a selection of the participating artists, those having previously done urban art.

Une décennie de Mural

2024 marked the 10th anniversary of Mural Festival, and for the occasion a photo expo was put together inside a giant paint can. The photos, supplied by Wall 2 Wall Montreal, represented murals from past editions painted by local artists. Here’s a few outside and inside shots of the expo.
